From Phnom Penh
- By car or taxi: The Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville Expressway, open since October 2022, has cut the journey to about 2.5-3 hours. A private taxi costs about $60.
- By bus: Buses and minivans take about 3-4 hours and cost about $10-15. Several companies can drop you near the ferry port.
From Siem Reap
- By plane: The fastest option: Air Cambodia flies from Siem Reap to Sihanouk International Airport (KOS) in just over an hour, usually from about $90-105. The airport is about 20 km from the ferry port.
- By bus: Night buses take about 10-11 hours (from about $13-15). Alternatively, travel via Phnom Penh and continue on the expressway.
From Bangkok
- By plane: Air Cambodia connects Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) with Sihanouk International Airport; from there it is a short taxi ride to the ferry port.
- Overland: Take a bus to Trat and continue to the border at Hat Lek / Cham Yeam (open daily 7:00-20:00). From Koh Kong on the Cambodian side, buses to Sihanoukville take about 5-6 hours (about $14). Plan on a full day or more.
From Ho Chi Minh City
- By plane: Air Cambodia flies from Ho Chi Minh City to Sihanouk International Airport.
- Bus via Ha Tien and Kampot: Sleeper buses and limousine vans to Ha Tien take about 7-8 hours ($11-19). Cross the border at Ha Tien / Prek Chak and continue to Kampot, where the daily boat to Koh Rong leaves from the Kampot International Tourism Port.
- Direct bus: Direct buses from Ho Chi Minh City to Sihanoukville take about 11 hours and cost about $45-48.
