Koh Rong Island Map & Geographic Layout (2026 Guide)
Last fact-checked: October 2026
Understanding how Koh Rong is laid out will save you time and money before you book a hotel or board a ferry. Shaped roughly like an elongated hourglass stretching 15 km from north-west to south-east, Koh Rong is divided into four distinct coastal zones connected by a 70 km concrete road network.
The 4 Zones of Koh Rong Explained
Use this geographic breakdown alongside the interactive OpenStreetMap below to orient yourself on the island:
- 1. South-East Hub (Koh Touch, Police Beach & Long Set / 4K Beach): The busiest and most connected part of Koh Rong. Koh Touch is at the southwestern end of this bay; walking or riding east brings you past White Beach and Police Beach to the 3.5 km crescent of Long Set (4K) Beach.
- 2. Central East Coast (Pagoda Beach, Daem Thkov & Coconut Beach): Moving north along the sheltered east coast from Long Set, you reach Pagoda Beach, Daem Thkov village, the Prek Ta Sok Mangrove boardwalk, and Coconut Beach.
- 3. West Coast (Sok San / 7 km Long Beach): Separated from the east coast by a forested central ridge (crossed by a 15-minute concrete road), the entire western shore is dominated by 7-kilometer Long Beach, with The Royal Sands in the center and Sok San fishing village at the northern end.
- 4. Northern Tip (Prek Svay, Palm Beach & Lonely Beach): The quietest region of Koh Rong at the northern end of the concrete road, home to Prek Svay mangrove estuary, Palm Beach, offshore Song Saa Private Island, and secluded Lonely Beach.

The 70 km Concrete Road Network (2026 Status)
Built since 2020, the concrete road network consists of a main north–south coastal and interior spine plus a cross-island mountain road linking Koh Touch/Long Set to Sok San Beach:
- South to West (Koh Touch / Long Set to Sok San): Fully paved wide concrete road (~8 km, 15 minutes by scooter). Note that the hill climb behind Koh Touch and descent toward Sok San are steep—check your brakes.
- South to East & North (Long Set -> Pagoda -> Coconut -> Prek Svay): Fully paved concrete road (~18 km, 30–35 minutes by scooter) passing the Prek Ta Sok mangroves.
- Unpaved Final Tracks: Only the last 1.5–2 km leading to Lonely Beach at the northern tip and a few minor beach tracks remain unpaved dirt/sand paths.
