Long Set Beach (4K Beach)

Long Set, which most travelers know as 4K Beach, is the most popular beach on Koh Rong. About 3-4 kilometers of white sand and shallow, clear water lie on the south-east coast, just north-east of Koh Touch village: close to the island's main pier, yet much calmer.

Getting there

• On foot: About 30 minutes along the coastal path from Koh Touch pier.
• By taxi: A short ride on the new road from Koh Touch.
• By ferry: Some fast ferries from Sihanoukville stop directly at Long Set, about 40 minutes from the mainland. Check the stop when you book.

What to do

• Swimming: The water is shallow and usually calm, especially in the dry season.
• Beach party: Nest Beach Club hosts Nestival, a beach party every Saturday from noon until midnight.
• Snorkeling: Swim out to the rocky drop-offs at the ends of the beach, or join a boat trip from Koh Touch.
• Plankton: On a dark night, walk away from the bars and wade into the water to see the glowing plankton.
• Long walk: Walking from Koh Touch to the far end of Long Set takes around two hours one way, and the far end is the quietest part of the beach.

Where to stay

Accommodation ranges from dorms to boutique resorts. Nest Beach Club has rooms and dorms right behind the beach, and Long Set Resort, a beachfront resort with about 30 rooms and a pool, lies further along the sand. Staying here means quiet evenings with the restaurants of Koh Touch within walking distance.

Good to know

• There are practically no ATMs on the island, so bring enough cash.
• Sandflies can be a nuisance at dawn and dusk; coconut oil and insect repellent help.
• In the rainy season, especially in July and August, the sea can be rough and ferries are sometimes cancelled.
