Palm Beach: Quiet Northern Bay Facing Song Saa Island (2026)
Last fact-checked: October 2026
Situated on the north-eastern coast of Koh Rong between Prek Svay fishing village and Lonely Beach, Palm Beach is a tranquil 700-meter stretch of golden-white sand shaded by hundreds of tall coconut palms. Looking directly across the turquoise channel toward the twin islets of Song Saa Private Island, it offers an unhurried, old-school Cambodian island atmosphere.
What Makes Palm Beach Special
While the southern beaches of Koh Rong have grown busier in recent years, the northern bays around Palm Beach remain wonderfully slow-paced. Hammocks hang between palm trees in shallow water, fishing boats chug past on the horizon, and nights are filled only with the sound of small waves.
- Views of Song Saa Islands: From the shore you look straight across at Koh Ouen and Koh Bong (Song Saa), framed by coral reefs and emerald water.
- Shallow, Calm Lagoon Feel: Protected by the northern curve of Koh Rong and offshore islets, the water here is shallow and gentle, great for wading and kayaking.
- Authentic Northern Exploring: Combine a visit to Palm Beach with nearby Prek Svay fishing village (10 minutes away) and Lonely Beach at the northern tip.
How to Get to Palm Beach
You can visit Palm Beach as a half-day stop on a scooter trip or stay overnight in a beachfront bungalow:
- By Scooter via the Concrete Road: Ride north from Koh Touch or Long Set along the paved main road toward Prek Svay and the northern tip (approx. 35 minutes). The final branch track to the beach is sandy/gravel, so ride slowly.
- By Private Boat or Water Taxi: From Prek Svay village or Koh Touch pier, you can hire a local longtail boat to drop you right on the sand.
